Vikings make triumphal, though wet, landing at L'Anse aux Meadows
Here are the first pictures we've received of the celebration at the end of our Vikings'
journey. More photos and a complete story will follow.

Vikings rowing in to L'Anse aux Meadows. |
Shallow water impedes their progress 50 yards from shore... |
...so they anchor Snorri, abandon ship... |
...and swim for it. |
Not that they're eager to complete the voyage, or anything. |
Viking re-enactors from the historic site greet the swimmers traditionally, with
native grains... |
...but for a moment, there's nary a towel in sight. |
Rob Stevens is greeted by his mother, Dorothy, and friend, Allison |
Landlocked Vikings greet their seagoing counterparts... |
...and treat them to a traditional meal of squid, char, mussels, moose, caribou and
homemade bread with partridge berry jam... |
...after which there is much speechifying for an attentive crowd... |
...including their new Viking friends on the hillside. |
